White House Easter Egg Roll                 More Photo Album               Home

Washington DC
April 16, 1990

The tradition dates back to the late 1800s when President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the White House grounds to children to roll Easter Eggs.

We arrived early on Monday to meet up with Clayton, who had arranged for us to attend. He escorted us onto the South Lawn grounds where we stayed for several hours playing games, seeing the animals, collecting our one wooden signed egg (okay, we stood in line twice so we could get a second one) and took lots of photos.

I knew this would likely be a once in a lifetime event and wanted to savor every moment.
