Sacramento, California
August 10-11, 2018
This weekend marked nearly the end of the summer of packing. We donated
a few more pieces of furniture, cleaned out nearly everything else left
in the house and garage, and brought it all to Southern California. Along the way, we dealt with more home repairs - this time the garage door that broke on Friday morning. A few mishaps -- including a lady who slipped and fell in our driveway after coming to look at an item I'd posted on Craigslist. And frayed tempers from time to time. But with help of Jerry, Danny, Emi and Jared, we had the big Penske van loaded by late morning on Saturday and made the trek down I-5. Jerry and I arrived at our storage facility around 7pm and managed to fit everything in a 12x12 storage room. A bit humbling to see what remained from our 4-bedroom home of 30-plus years crammed in this little room. Now we wait for the sale to be finalized in a week or so, and then I can start thinking about what I want for a new home. But one thing is for sure - next time, I'm hiring movers. |
