When I called Jerry and told him I was in North Hollywood, he asked if I had joined the porn industry. My recollection too was of a rather uninspired city, landlocked between places you would much rather be.

But I had an extra hour to spare thanks to a delayed flight home, and stopped here for dinner, only to find a community reinventing itself into a trendy arts district. Of course, the biggest surprise of all was that Kitty Carlisle Hart is not only alive, but apparently still performing.
