After complaining about my kitchen for years, I finally decided to take matters into my own hands. Jerry had painted the walls and border in 2003, but the cabinets were still dark and dated, and the hardware belonged in the Smithsonian.  It was a smelly and messy project that involved lots of TSP, sandpaper, primer, oil-based paint, and turpentine. Lisa and Katie helped me clean 17 years worth of junk out of the drawers and cabinets -- a long overdue chore but an ordeal nonetheless.  Joe, whom I promised "wouldn't have to lift a finger" came to the rescue, rehanging doors and fixing a major painting mistake of mine. But three weeks later, it was all worth it and I'm in love with the results.
