You can't so much as have a conversation (or eavesdrop on anyone else's conversation) without hearing someone say they are a singer and/or a songwriter.
There is live music everywhere, even in unexpected places like Starbucks, airport restaurants, and this girl, on a stage at the massive Opryland Mall, singing her heart out on a Sunday afternoon. There was practically nobody in the audience but she didn't seem to mind. She was really good.
