Nashville, Tennessee

March 8, 2014

When I was planning our weekend trip, I spent a lot of time trying to find a small music venue in Nashville that allowed under 21s. This was one of the few and while we didn't know any of the singer-songwriters scheduled to perform, it seemed like a fun place to spend a Saturday night.

I didn't realize how popular it was until I went to buy tickets. They went on sale at exactly 6am (California) time on the Wednesday before. I was online and picked a table at 6:01am, found out that table was in the bar area and had to start over again, got a table on the other side of the room, and made the reservation at 6:05am. By 6:08, the show was sold out.

The owners of the house where we were staying are musicians, and they told us they perform at the Bluebird every once in a while.

And while we were waiting to go in, a steady stream of tourists drive up, hopped out of their taxis, took their pictures in front of the club, and then drove off.

Well we found out that it's a featured spot in the show "Nashville," and has become even more popular as a result. During the show, one of the singers said that the pilot was filmed at the club, but the show has built an identify set for all of the newer episodes.

The show was a lot of fun. Three women, performing country music and telling stories. And couple of other guest performers joined them over the course of the evening. A great taste of Nashville.
