Our first stop in Boston was the Mother Church, where we attended the Wednesday noon service. It was held in the original edifice, the Romanesque part of the building which was built in the late 1880s. One of the ushers told us that the regular Reader "packs the place on Wednesdays" -- a tough act for today's substitute to follow no doubt. But by the time the service started, the pews were nearly full and it was a really wonderful and inspiring time.
