Ending the Year with a Thud More Photo Album Home

It shouldn't
have come as a surprise that the last hours of 2020 would throw us one
last monkey wrench, or in our case, a massive palm frond. As Lisa and I were taking the Duffy for a New Year's Eve sunset spin around the bay, we heard a loud thud and the boat suddenly stopped. After realizing a large palm frond was caught in our propeller and we couldn't move, we paddled toward the boat ramp at Marina Pacifica and I jumped out into the cold (but luckily not too cold) water to pull us to the edge. A nearby boat then helped us get to the dock area and, an hour or so later, we were being towed back to the Portofino. On Monday morning, I called our hull cleaning service who assured me, "this happens all the time" and they would come remove the culprit. They did, and the Duffy was back in business. |
