There were a few weeks in late May or early June when it seemed
like the pandemic might be winding down, that the curve might be
flattening and new cases were leveling off.
But that didn't happen. Stores reopened, people got impatient and gathered, the debate over wearing masks raged (among a few, at least) and we were back to square one. Maybe less than one. The timeline for me and my staff returning to work had originally been June, but then got pushed to end of summer, then early 2021, and now seems to be hovering somewhere around next summer. We groan each time the date is pushed back, but there's nothing we can do but be patient, be safe and adapt to this new reality. For me, its mainly an inconvenience of not being around my co-workers, seeing family, and not being able to go on fun weekend adventures. For others, including Katie, it is a complete disruption to her life, coursework and medical training for the senior year. I know we'll get through this madness eventually and it will forever shape our view of the world. Maybe even sharpen our appreciation for the simple and beautiful things around us. And strengthen our relationships with friend and family. But it's hard now. Especially when we were so close to containing this virus |
