Sha Tin, China
January 20, 2019
About an hour from central district by metro, we arrived in
Sha Tin New Territories and the foothills of Hong Kong's
countryside.
We had come to see the 10,000 Buddhas temple and monastery. To get there we would have had to climb 40 stories worth of concrete stairs and we were pretty worn out at that point. So we settled for the first 50 or so, life size gold painted statues. Each different. Back down at the base of the hill was a modern shopping center with an IKEA, Starbucks and other stores, all decorated for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration.
