Fulton, California

The tiny town of Fulton just north of Santa Rosa, now boasts a fun mural that brings its quirky past to life. Clucktopia, created by a local artist is a playful tribute to the town’s history—and yes, there are chickens involved.

The mural graces the side of a building with a long and interesting past. Originally built in the 1800s as a fruit and vegetable packing plant, it has worn many hats over the years: winery, turkey slaughterhouse, circus animal housing, and a chicken processing plant that closed in 2010.

But from that history hatched something new. Today, the old warehouse has been transformed into Fulton Crossing, a creative space where artists and makers share their work. Clucktopia is one of the treasures and the perfect welcome mat on our way to the River.
