During my more than 40 years of working in public service, I've seen some over-the-top retirement events, and I'd made it clear many times that I was not interested in anything of the sort.  "Keep it low key" was my instruction to coworkers - and they found the perfect balance with today's potluck in one of our meeting rooms.  Most of my staff, and many of my other colleagues were there. There was a short slideshow with highlights of many of my favorite moments at Metropolitan, and a few short speeches.  All in all - just the perfect ending to a great decade working at Metropolitan. The question everyone is asking is, "what's next?" and I don't have a good answer.  So I stole a line from other co-worker:  "I have some things that I had to do, and some things I want to do."  That seemed to satisfy.
