So this weekend, as the stay at home orders started to lift, Katie and I seized the opportunity to take a road trip to Northern California. We had brief visits with Tabby and Jay, a backyard 'bring your own dinner' with Danny and Emi, and spent a couple of hours with Marge and Tom on the deck -- all from a safe distance.
At one point, we talked about driving all the way to Oregon. But traveling is much harder than normal, with social distancing, face masks, take-out service only at most restaurants, and a deep cleaning every time we made a stop.
So instead, we drove south after leaving the river through San Francisco and down 101, stopping for the night in Paso Robles, and then finished our trip seeing Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara and Montecito before coming home.
