"We were just wondering," our neighbors Gil and Margo Hayes asked, "if maybe you folks had your holidays confused?"

They are accustomed to our traditional Halloween decorations -- the inflatable ghosts and pumpkins that used to decorate.

Marge's first grade classroom, and the pumpkin lights. But this year, we have introduced a new element: Jack Skeleton in a Santa suit. Had we gone too far? Had we missed the mark?

"Anyone who's watched even half of 'Nightmare Before Christmas' will understand it." Lisa reassured us. "It's a generation thing."
