Many years ago, Memorial Day
weekend was affectionately renamed "Witches Weekend" in honor of
my mom and aunts who stake their claim on the cabin.
The rest of the family is invited to be there, of course, but it's clear
that the witches run the show -- from bed assignments, to furniture
placement (and rearrangement if necessary), to the games we play
(this year it was Mexican Train Dominoes), to the menu.
In keeping with the theme of the weekend, Katie presented them with these hats we'd bought several months ago. The witches were good enough sports to don the headwear and send us this picture. I'm so proud of all of them -- three strong, beautiful, smart women who are my role models for their courage, humor, compassion and successes they've achieved. |
