Rancho Cucamonga, California

June 17-18, 2018

I knew that Becca, my friend since kindergarten, and her husband Les had moved into a new house, but had no idea it was at the very top of the hill with a killer view of the entire LA basin.

"Come to the end of the street and then drive past the Road Closed sign. Head up the hill another half mile or so and stay on the paved road (uh, okay...) and then we are the last house on the road.

There are downsides, Becca explained. Lloyds of London is the only company that would write a homeowners insurance policy and that was only after they removed 7 mature trees on the property and cleared a 100 foot defensible zone to help protect against wildfires. They have lousy internet service that's provided by a satellite dish ("only one device can run at a time," she tells me). And the regular nuisance of kids coming up the hill to party. Still, an amazing setting.

It was great to see her as well as Trisha and Dawn again. I'm so grateful for these lifelong friends
