The Village is one of New England's oldest communities, founded in 1638 when settlers established a hamlet around the falls and cove where the Pawtuxet River flows into upper Narragansett Bay.
If I recall, this was our first AirBnb stay - long before it became so popular. The woman who owns the house where we stayed is a zookeeper, specializing in Central and South American animals. She's also an avid gardener and even though we arrived late in the evening, took us on our tour of her huge backyard vegetable garden and a koi pond. After a night with a very affectionate cat (Jeffrey), we walked a couple of blocks into the village to get breakfast, and then wandered over to a beautiful park next to the river for a peaceful start to our day.
