For most of a car's life, it's simply a means to an end -- a mode of transportation to get the kids to school, haul groceries, commute to work, or for family vacations. But for those first couple of weeks of a car's life, it's so much more. It's the center of attention. 

Case in point. Last night, we had a party in Dave and Jenny's new VW Eurovan. It started with the kids wanting to play the board game, Trouble, in the upper berth. But before long, Jenny and Jerry had staked out their seats. Dave arrived with the 12-volt hot pot and packets of hot chocolate. Then came the mood lighting and the music. 

Saturday night. Party in the Sims' driveway. At least for a while....
