I had been invited to celebrate the retirement of a former co-worker. But after we ate lunch, and as the funny stories and remembrances started to wind down, the guest of honor and her boyfriend (also a former co-worker) thanked us all for coming and asked if we wouldn't mind staying just a few more minutes so we could watch them get married - which they did on the deck overlooking the lake.
