Ever since its opening nearly two years ago, we've wanted to visit the Sundial Bridge, a pedestrian bridge that spans the Sacramento River in Redding. When we finally made the trip this weekend, it didn't disappoint.  

 

The Spanish architect who designed the bridge called it "a bird in flight" and it does look lighter than air. The deck is made of aqua green, opaque glass, with strips of granite. On sunnier days, the pylon apparently acts as a sundial, telling time on a tile covered wall at the far end of the bridge. It's stunning from every angle, even underneath looking up.

 

It's like walking on art...
