Alizee arrived
with about two dozen of the U.S. State quarters and the girls made it
their mission to find all 50 state quarters during her visit. We made several trips to the bank, buying rolls of quarters and then turning them back in for more. They asked cashiers at stores we visited to check their drawers for the ones we needed. Some weren't too willing, but others, including the women at the gift shops at the Getty Museum on a rather slow night, really got into the game and helped us find several coins we needed. We found the final coin, Michigan, just a couple of days before the end of Alizee's trip while shopping at the Rivercats team store at Raley Field. "I can't do that," she told us when we asked her to check her till -- but then confessed it was because she really couldn't read the small print on the quarters. Then she reached in, grabbed a handful, put them on the counter, and there it was, Michigan! |
