Karon Beach, Thailand

December 5, 2008

On our last night in Phuket, we took a Tuk Tuk to Dino Golf, a jungle-themed miniature golf course in Karon Beach. As it turns out, the adjacent restaurant and its "Flintstones Go To Jurassic Park " theme proved just as enticing. It featured waterfalls, dinosaur bones, a stone age car, tropical atmosphere, and wait staff in skimpy animal print attire. Not to mention decent food and big fruity adult beverages.

During dinner, a baby elephant showed up in front of the restaurant. You know you've been in Thailand a while when an elephant strolling into your line of sight is interesting, but not unnerving.

It was a nice way to spend our last night together. Dave, Jenny the cousins would leave the next morning for their trip back to the U.S. via Singapore, Hong Kong and Toyko, while we were headed back to Bangkok for a few more days of vacation.

After we returned home, Dave reminded me of another highlight of this Karon Beach attraction: at slightly less than eight degrees north latitude, it is southernmost point on the globe that Katie, Lisa and I have been.
