We came around the curve on the highway and saw these incredibly high structures on the hill. "Those can't be ski jumps," I thought. "They're way too high..." Turns out they were. Watching ski jumping during the Olympics, you don't get a true sense of the scale. We parked and bought tickets to take the elevator to the top of the structure. I think it might have been 28 stories. We walked out on the jump deck and got a bird's eye view of the ramp that the ski jumpers launch from before flying over the length of a football field. From there, we walked down to another ski jump where the 12 and 13 year-olds were training. No snow, of course, but these young kids practice year round and jump and land on wet carpet and grass that simulates (I guess) landing on hard snow. Here are some videos:
