After celebrating Grandma Geneva's life - which ended earlier this week - we met up with some of Joe's cousins at a Mexican restaurant.
The food was fine, but the service was a bit sketchy. When Uncle Jim tried to order a glass of Glenlivet, the wait staff had no idea what he was talking about. They disappeared for a while, then finally returned. "We don't have that. We only have Johnnie Walker and a Mexican scotch."
The idea of Mexican scotch intrigued Uncle Jim and his son, Jimmy. "What's it called?," asked Jim. "Chivos," she replied as she headed off to pour two glasses. Fernando noted that "chivos" translates to "goats." It's also the name of a soccer team. And slang for heroin. Leading many of us to wonder what was in store for Jim and Jimmy when their drinks finally arrived.
Jim drank it, wasn't terribly impressed and asked the waitress once again for the name of the brand. "It's Chivos. Chivos Regale," she repeated with conviction.
Jim thought for a minute and then started cracking up. Oh my gosh. She means Chivas Regal -- and it's Scottish!" |
