I wasn't able to go with the rest of the family inside the Tiger Temple because I was wearing a red shirt that day. Tigers apparently do not like the color red. 

So I sat in the covered waiting area watching live TV coverage from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport, where yellow-shirted members of the Peoples Alliance for Democracy had besieged the facilities a few days earlier. They seemed energized  -- certainly in no mood to back down from their demands that the current Prime Minister resign.  And, therefore, unlikely to lift their blockade of the airport anytime soon. 

It was at that point I began to panic, realizing that our flight back to the United States a few days later was in real jeopardy.
