Today was Picnic Day event at UC Davis, the university's annual open house. We started the day looking at the animals, including a couple of days-old foals, then moved to the sciences buildings where we did fun DNA experiments, dined on liquid nitrogen ice cream, met the bug doctor, observed maggot art (don't ask), and learned more than you probably want to know about bacteria incubators, genetic engineering and neurophysiology.
