The teachers at Katie's school are an ambitious bunch. While other schools have abandon extra-curricular activities, they manage to have several field trips each year including a weeklong trip to Sly Park for the sixth grade, half a week at Marin Headlands for the fifth graders and many other day trips. They also put on a school dance, Harvest Fair and a Christmas program.

This year's show wasn't just the typical classroom songfest, but a 90-minute production of the musical Oliver.  Sets, costumes, musical accompaniment, and before and after school practices. Katie was one of the narrators and did a great job.
