Homosassa, Florida

July 10, 2012

It's only a few minutes off the main highway, but this town definitely has a relaxed old soul. Established as a sugar plantation and mill in the mid-1800s and then burned to the ground during the Civil War, it's still got plenty of remnants of the past as well as some very cool waterfront restaurants, wildlife activities, marinas and fishing, interesting characters, and small town charm.

We grabbed a drink at the Tiki Bar, then walked over to watch some people clean their just-caught scallops while some several large birds watched for any leftovers.
