When I attended the first year of this annual Communications School about 15 years ago, some of the staff told me it was called a "school" because it was easier for federal employees to attend training programs instead of conferences. I thought it was a gimmick, but over the years, the courses have really taught me a lot about communication planning, strategies and new technologies. This year was no exception, including a really interesting workshop on bots. I was pleasantly surprised to see a women I knew from Sacramento in attendance, so we got to hang out a bit. And take a sunset cruise to see dolphins playing in the waters off Fort Meyers. Metropolitan was again was the big winner at the awards ceremony, placing in 13 of the 42 categories and getting Best of Show for communications associated with our annual Solar Cup program.
