Cajon Pass, California

September 19, 2007

The mountain pass between San Bernardino and the High Desert was created by the San Andreas Fault. It's full of interesting seismic features and geological points of interest including Mormon Rocks, these large pinkish sandstone formations named for the Mormon pioneers who camped near here in the 1850s. I would have liked to stop longer, but it was one of those hurry-up business trips with no time to spare.
