On a desolate section of I-5 in Kern County, a series of freeway signs beckons you to "enjoy a day in the country by visiting our farm located at the main crossroads of Central California." It seemed to us just a bit of an oversell. (Although perhaps there's something more that we didn't see.) But on a busy Labor Day weekend, we were the only car in the parking lot and there wasn't much to keep us there.
