After our cross country flight and a quick stop at the
hotel, we headed over to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with
Vincent, our friend who is working in the Disney College Program. Two bits of good luck found us along the way. First, the Disney parking lot attendant waved us through, "It's on me," she called out. Secondly, the strictly enforced Disney parking rules were done for the day and we were able to park wherever we wanted in the lot. This may not sound like much but if you've ever gone with me to Disneyland, parking location is a huge indicator of my mood for the rest of the day. We made our way through the spring break crowds waiting for fireworks on Main Street and followed Vincent's lead to the new area of Fantasyland. Along the way, he told us about the crazy amount of hype over the recent opening of the Rapunzel bathroom, and then pointed to a building. Katie and I ran inside and were, well, underwhelmed. Maybe it's just one of those things that was clouded by our jet lag, we thought. But then walked out to find Lisa and Vincent laughing at us. "I knew your mom would fall for that," Vincent told Lisa. (He then took us to the real Rapunzel bathroom, which frankly wasn't any more exciting than the first one). A hot drink at Gaston's (did I mention it was record cold these first few days of our trip) followed by a ride on Pirates before exhaustion hit and we headed back to the hotel. |
