I Do Love a High-Rise

Today’s Central City Association
meeting was on the 47th floor of one of the many buildings that have
been built since I left Los Angeles in the 1980s (and there are many!) The views of Southern California were
spectacular today. From the ocean to Mt Wilson and everything in
between. The meeting room was a model for one of the thousands of
residential and commercial spaces that will be part of this complex once
completed. would be a lot of fun to live in one, although I’m not sure
Jasper would take to being a condo pup. It was also wonderful to see the new
Wilshire Grand building from this perspective. Once finished, the
73-story gem will be the tallest building on the West Coast (at least
for a few months until a taller one in Seattle is completed). Hard to
imagine when I wrote the Central City Association’s report on the future
of downtown development in 1981 that I would actually get to see the
results. |
