The last-day-of-school-locker-clean-up is the most sought after parent volunteer opportunity of the year at Katie's school. Why, you ask? Because those parents get first choice of lockers for their kids the following school year. Last year, I waited about an hour to RSVP to the email announcement, and by then it was sold out. This year, I not only responded within five minutes but also offered the minivan to take some of the left over clothes to Good Will. Turns out they didn't need to use my van because the lockers were surprisingly clean inside (who knew?) so I just had to unlock and scrub my share of lockers -- about 80 -- and now Katie will be the proud owner of a top locker in the section outside the "C" building.
