To make our departure from Suvarnabhumi airport a smooth one, Uncle Craig made arrangements with a colleague who runs the ground operations company. A nice young woman greeted us as our taxi dropped us at the terminal, then pointed to her clipboard and matter-of-factly said to us, "I'm sorry, but your flight has been cancelled." I nearly had a stroke.

But we soon realized that she had our original, pre-airport shutdown flight number, not the new flight we had been booked on several days earlier.  She adeptly skirted the very long check-in lines and had us quickly processed by a first class ticket agent, then whisked us through a VIP line to have our passports stamped and finally to our gate where she pronounced that we were all set to leave. I resisted the temptation to beg her to stay until our plane was out of sight.
