Lake Tahoe, California

August 10, 2012

Camping is not my forte, but we bought a new tent earlier this year and landed a great camping site reservation on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. We simplified things by taking no food that required cooking or heating, no wood for a campfire (except s'mores, which we made by mooching off the neighboring campsite's fire), and a positive attitude. The lake water was too cold for me, but it was fun to relax on the beach in the afternoon, and play cards long into the night. Around midnight, I was awakened by bright flashes of light, followed by roaring thunder, and then several hours of pouring rain.

The good news? It stayed dry inside the tent and by morning, the rain stopped and blue skies returned.
