"I hear they have good discounts" seems to be the common response when I tell people that my AARP card came in the mail this week. Also a warning, "Be prepared for junk mail.  They love to sell you name to everyone." But nicely deflected with the comment, "After a while, the junk mail goes away if you ignore it. I guess they figure you have died."
