The reason for the trip in the first place was to attend the PR News
Award for Corporate Social Responsibility. Metropolitan's water
conservation advertising campaign was a finalist in one of the
categories, but we lost out to a better (and better financed) Kroger
Foods campaign to stop food waste. Although tempted to point out that you can't even grow food, let alone waste it, without having reliable water supplies, my mind at that point was more focused on whether I would get out of town before the incoming snowstorm shut down the airports. As soon as the luncheon ended, I headed straight for DCA and caught one of the final flights out before a late-season dusting of snow blanketed the city. |
