It seemed like a perfect plan: Get out of the dreary fog in Sacramento and head over to the Russian River to visit mom and dad. What's that you say?They've gone on vacation to Thailand? Oh gee, that's a real shame. It would have been great to see them. I just hope they closed up the place properly before they left for two weeks in Thailand.
No doubt they turned off the oven. Yes, of course they would. But what if they didn't? I suppose, as the oldest child, it's probably my responsibility to check... just to be sure. I'll run over there for the day. Well, maybe two days -- after all it's a long drive. Joe should probably come in case I can't figure out how to turn off that darn oven. And we certainly can't leave Katie alone if we're going away overnight. Yes, we'll head over there. Just the three of us. Unless, of course, the cousins and Dave and Jenny would want to join us to do a more thorough home inspection. In which case, we'd better throw in the bathing suits -- just in case the Jacuzzi was left on too.
