We didn't
realize that cameras aren't allowed into the Hollywood Bowl -- after
all doesn't everyone have a camera built into their phone? But the
no-nonsense agents at the main gate wouldn't let us in with it. "What if
we take the lens off?" we asked. "Nope."
They sent us to
the administrative office where we were to leave it until after the
show. That was a bit troubling both in terms of safety of the camera and
getting it back after the
concert.
Nonetheless, we headed up the hill toward the office,
but then saw another entrance. By then,
we had separated the camera body from the lens and put it into two
separate bags so it was non-functional. At the turnstile, I
spotted a young man who looked very familiar. I hadn't seen him in three or
four years, but I knew it was the son of of my best childhood friends, He gently checked our bags and waved us through as we
continued our conversation. "Tell your mom 'hi' for me," I yelled
back. "And thanks!" I winked.
We didn't use the camera
(these were taken with something other than a camera in my phone, I
guess) and it really was a fun ending to a great week-long road trip. |
