As we were heading back to Sacramento today, we stopped at Mann's Chinese Theater to see the handprints in the cement. Then we went next door to the new Kodak Theater. We read some of the stories set in mosaic tiles in the main court. These are a collection of quotes from people who came to make their fortunes in Hollywood, from camera operators to movie stars. Huge pillars topped with elephants surround the main plaza -- they are recreations of the set from the set of D. W. Griffith's movie Intolerance. And at the back of the complex, there is an oversized casting couch and a view of the Hollywood sign in the distance.
