While researching this trip, I read a blog that revealed how to see the Graceland gardens, gravesite, and exterior for free. The regular tour is $31, or upwards of $70 for the deluxe tour (does it come with a peanut butter and banana sandwich?) but I knew we had neither the time nor the interest in doing that. So the notion of a quick peak was the perfect solution.

This free time was from 7:30am until 8:30am and, since we were still on California time, that meant getting up way too early. But hey, this is Elvis we're talking about, so we made our way to Graceland bright and early. Once there, Katie befriended the security guard who let us park next to his booth while we walked up the long driveway and took a quick look around the place. There were only a few of tourists. Oh and a couple of fan(atics) who come every morning to adorn the site with fresh flowers.
