Going to the Sun Road More Photo Album Home
Glacier National Park, Montana
August 31, 2010
For the record, there was very little sun on the day we drove the "Going to the Sun Road." Logan's Pass was in the clouds most of the day, rainshowers persisted, and we even had a trace of snow at the summit. Every now and then though, it would clear enough to see the tops of the mountain peaks or deep into the valleys. We started out with a short hike on the Trail of the Cedars through an old growth forest to see Avalanche Gorge. Then we continued up, up, up Logan's Pass. I was grateful for the construction delays because I was able to look around a bit when we were stopped and drive slowly on the harrowing road. Along the way, we made several short stops, including lunch at the Two Sisters cafe. Then, we raced up the east side of the Park to get to Many Glacier in time for our boat trip on Swiftcurrent Lake.
