The fishing - we were told - was going to be great. But as is often the case, it turned out that somehow this particular weekend was just a little bit early (or a little bit late) for the good catches. I think we came up empty.
And then, there were the bees. We couldn't put any food out on the tables without attracting them and I think we all finally just decided to eat in our tents.
I also remember still being so sad about the death of Princess Diana. She had been killed the weekend before and I woke up very early Saturday morning to watch the funeral before we left for the lake.
It was one of those weekends that you're glad when it's over.
