I saw the executive office's memo to all Met employees pop up in my
inbox with the subject line, "Eclipse." My first thought was that this was going to be one of those bureaucratic edicts that we are not authorized to use worktime to leave our desks and view the eclipse. That reaction is a throwback to years of dealing with strict managers when it came to all things fun on the job. Instead, our management not only encouraged employees to take some time to watch the eclipse (about 70% coverage in Southern California), but also bought glasses for us. The photo of the eclipse was taken by one of my talented co-workers. |
