The governor's former chief of staff hosted a very nice party to celebrate Gov. Deukmejian's 80th birthday. It was great to see former co-workers, many of whom are now dear friends, and reminisce about special times and days gone by. 

After dinner and cake, one of the former campaign directors stood up and told us that he'd had dinner earlier in the week with Nancy Reagan. He mentioned to the former first lady that he would be attending a birthday party for Gov. Deukmejian. "I have the perfect gift," she said, and went to get an Air Force One flight jacket, similar to the one that President Reagan had worn. "Here, give this to Duke," Mrs. Reagan said, "and tell him I think he should run in 2012."
