Most of the year, the swimming pool is nothing but a bother. Keeping it clean and in good working order is, in my opinion, just about more trouble than it's worth. 

But then, there are days like today when the pool -- and especially the diving board -- are such a source of joy that visions of filling the gunite hole with dirt and replacing it with in a small lawn, flagstone patio, outdoor kitchen and a water feature are vanquished. 

At least for a while...
