We've been planning this event for many months and thanks to our amazing team of writers, artists, designers, archivists, program managers, researchers, web and social media pros, engineers, videographers, carpenters, welders and...I'm sure I'm forgetting many others, today's celebration was worthy of the great Colorado River Aqueduct whose anniversary we celebrated.

Noted historian Kevin Starr spoke to an audience of about 400 guests and employees at the historic Union Station concourse. We also honored officials from the 13 original cities who paid for the construction of the project in the 1930s. Afterwards, we had a reception in our lobby complete with a replica of the original cake, a new museum exhibit, videos, live music and lots more. Dave and Jenny came and that made it even more fun.

One of my favorite parts of this whole project has been the historical 'live tweets' from people who worked on the project, telling their stories, and the website we created with photos, music, documents and original recordings from the original event in 1941.
