Las Vegas, Nevada

One of the best memories Lisa had from our last trip to Las Vegas in 1999 was the tour of the Coca-Cola building. It offered a complete history of Coca-Cola plus a room to watch their best commercials of all time. At the end of the tour, there was a room with drinking fountains where you grabbed a plastic Coke cup and helped yourself to some of their drinks from all over the world.

We discovered on this trip that the tour is no more. "We shut that down about eight or nine years ago," the cashier in the gift shop told us, and I got the impression it's a question she gets asked often.

They do however, still offer the tastes of the world. For $7, you get two trays with 16 cups. Each has a sample of drinks that are made by Coca-Cola for those countries. Our favorites were Vegitabeta (Japan) and Stony Ginger Beer (S. Africa). By far, the worst was Beverly (Italy).

When we returned the tray to the counter, we asked the guy if anyone likes the Beverly drink? "Every once in a while, we get someone who is sick and likes it. They say it's kinda like Alka-Seltzer."
