Just Like Old Times More Photo Album Home
Los Angeles, California
May 14, 2015
One of the most surprising things about returning to Southern California
after 30 years is how many things still feel familiar. Today, I was invited to attend the annual luncheon for the Central City Association of Los Angeles, the place where I started my professional career while still attending UCLA. Back then, the organization was much smaller -- just three staff-- but we were beginning to see the vision of a new more vibrant downtown community that's been realized over the past three decades. After graduating, I took on the job of Government Affairs manager and spent a couple of years working on political and economic development issues. I'm still in touch with two of my CCA co-workers, Pam and Marilyn. While at today's luncheon, I sent them both a photo, "Guess where I am?" and we had a good laugh. But the biggest surprise was running into my buddy Steve Crosby, one of our original Sacramento 'subcommittee' of six friends who (sometimes) worked and (always) played together at the Capitol many years ago. |
